3.8k Swim

The Challenge Henley-on-Thames swim course will take place on the Royal Regatta course. The course is an out and back 3.8k swim. The start will be adjacent to the beautiful Henley Business School
Wave structure and timings will be confirmed nearer the time.

The course will travels towards the town of Henley and will pass ‘Temple Island’, which is located in the middle of the Thames, giving spectators and swimmers a great focal point. The turn point is just past Fawley Court. The swim finish is also located at the Henley Business School.

180k Bike

Straight after the swim, the 180k bike course begins. On leaving the Henley Business School, it's a left turn onto the Henley/Marlow road towards Henley.

After a couple of miles, passing two campsites and the rugby club on the right, we're on the outskirts of Henley, where a right turn takes us on to Fairmile, sweeping up into the Chiltern Hills - ‘an area of outstanding natural beauty’.

The route passes through some typically quaint English villages (comprising of some stunning houses) with rolling/undulating landscapes totalling over 2000m (6500ft) of climbing.

The course has been designed with some superb scenery and challenging terrain which will give us plenty of opportunity to perfect those ascending and descending skills. Once the first lap is completed, it's back to the outskirts of Henley before beginning the second lap.  At the end of the second lap, there is a final short out and back before the second transition.

42k Run

After transition 2 it's on to the run course, which consists of 4 laps, totalling 42.2k, which is ideal for athletes. After leaving the rugby club it's straight towards the town, sweeping around the edge of the river to Henley Bridge. Once over the bridge it's a left turn running through an extremely picturesque part of the Henley area along Remenham lane through the quaint village of Remenham. Once here, the course will go onto private paths through to the village of Aston emerging near to the Flower Pot Pub.
Following the road down to the Thames River and onto the Thames path, which follows the river all the way back to Henley Bridge. This return part of the course takes in the stunning views of the Business School, ‘Temple Island’, river activities, riverside properties and rowing clubs, before Henley Bridge and town dominate the sky line.
