6' 10" mountain man who crushes rocks in his hands. No, I'm taller than that!!!

Right, firstly I am the shortest but best looking member of the team regardless of what everybody will tell you. I am also the most lethal. I am a former Royal Marines Commando who is always looking for the next challenge. Physical challenges also keep me sane from all the paper work involved in the day job. My next challenge will be banning paper from the world of education.  Why did I sign up for the Iron man? When I know the answer, I will add it to my blog. Certainly in the early hours of each morning training session, I ask my self the same question. However, it probably has something to do with the fact that I enjoy endurance events and wearing my Lycra.

I suppose the sensible answer is that I want to show that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things. Throughout my life I have been inspired by the people around me and this stills continues on a daily basis. I would like to use this as a platform to inspire the young people that I work with to give 100% at all times. It is not 'cool' in my eyes to be lazy and to be scared to give100% through fear of embarrassment or failure.  So, I am hopeful that many people will join in; through this blog and through the training that we are participating in.

To date I have competed in 3 Triathlons, 2 Mountain Marathons and anything else that involves the great outdoors and me pushing myself to my limits. My strength is running, until you compare me to anyone that has put some training in and then I'm average!

I am a simple man that enjoys the simple things in life. Over the last few years I have put everything into my work and have recently achieved my MA. This is enough hard work on the academic level for now. Now it's time to commit to a physical challenge and what a physical challenge this will be. I will cherish every moment..........Honest!!
