Another Challenge?

Don't worry, this is a stepping stone to the big day, not an additional stupid idea. In comparison, we will enjoy this one. Have a look at this link that Heidi S sent me. It looks right up our street. Could get some students from Sport and PS to compete against us also.

Neil, don't forget your speedo's for our first ever swimming lesson. I'll bring the armbands!!

  1. G'Day there Men of Iron (and of course the IronLady)...
Phil's big sis here following you all in your quest to hear your name followed by those immortal words "...is an Ironman".
Good to see you have a swimming lesson planned...I was lecturing Phil just the other day on the importance of technique...you can swim for hours but if your technique is all wrong you'll barely improve...with the right technique you feel like your gliding effortlessly through the water...get too far behind in the swim leg and stay behind!!
Do you have any video swim clinics near where you are? They're a great way to kick start your new and improved style!!
Get yourselves some toys for the pool too...pullbouys and bands (old cycle tyre to tie around your ankles) and try some sets with both and with just one or the other...just bands is v. difficult when you have no style but improves your swimming strength no end!!
Make sure to let us all know how the lesson goes...
Oh yeah, just one more thing...make sure to practise swimming towards a bouy in the open water...I've heard many a story of swimmers following each other and going off course...remember this for race day!!

    Ciao for now,
    Teresa.
P.S. There's a great scarf knitting pattern in this weeks Take a Break IronLady...make sure to get yourself a copy!

  2. Good to have you on-board T, and with some great swimming advice too. I'm really looking forward to the first coached session tonight and I'm hoping Hayley can put me on the right track ASAP.

  3. Welcome aboard Hindley senior! Thanks for the tips and more importantly, for ruining Jon with some grade A banter!!

Phil and I have a swimming lesson pencilled in for next Wednesday which hopefully will start us off on the right track/refine what are currently extremely 'raw' techniques! Love the idea of video analysis - it beats ducking underwater and looking at each other (that sounded wrong!). Not sure if there's a facility that'll do that around here - will need to check it out.

Will be great to hear more from an experienced triathlete like yourself! Tips for race day etc. Keep 'em coming and thanks for supporting our blog.
